Food Safety, Quality and Risk Management 

September is SAFE MUSHROOM Food Safety Month, which dedicates four weeks to connect, engage and learn about food safety practices, to ensure all Australian mushroom growers understand the importance of building good food safety culture on farm, and for smaller growers to support small farm operators, to implement food safety best practice procedures on farm 

Throughout September the AMGA will be releasing new videos, a suite of free posters to download and print for your farm, and provide free food safety testing, and webinars to support both certified and non-certified growers. 

FREE FOOD SAFETY TESTING

This September, FREE food safety testing is available for Australian Agaricus growers. These tests can be used to validate your on-farm practices, providing comprehensive screening for pesticides as well as heavy metals and microbial contaminants. Kits will be sent from Applied Horticultural Research, and include a reply paid express envelope. To order a kit, please email admin@ahr.com.au

Staff induction Videos

These SAFE MUSHROOM Food Safety induction videos are designed to assist growers to educate existing Harvesters and Farm Hands, or onboard new staff to understand their responsibility to ensure food safety best practice. Whether you directly handle fresh mushrooms or work elsewhere on the farm, Food Safety is everyone's responsibility.

SAFE MUSHROOM Posters are designed to assist farm staff understand their Food Safety responsibilities while working.

It is recommended that farms print the posters in A3 and in colour for maximum impact, and laminate them for protection.
