The SAFE MUSHROOM Program recognises the growing number of mushroom farms producing food products, particularly un-certified businesses who manufacture products such as mushroom powders, jerky or chips to sell at local farmers markets.  

Most regional councils now require food businesses to maintain a food safety management plan, even if your products are not categorised as a high risk food. A food safety program is a written document indicating how a food business will control the food safety hazards associated with the food handling activities of the business.

The SAFE Mushroom - Mushroom Food Manufactuter Food Safety Management plan provides your business with a free editable template, based on the HACCP Principles.

The SAFE MUSHROOM Program and Toolkit has been developed to provide a strong food safety foundation for mushroom growing businesses. The focus of the program is on core food safety compliance, established through basic record keeping and supported through independent assessment. 

Each of the seven modules in the SAFE MUSHROOM program includes a toolkit of supporting forms and resources. These have been supplied as Microsoft Word documents, for you to complete or edit to suit your business.
